Capoeira in Palestine

As part of my bachelor's thesis, I took part in the first international capoeira event in order to be able to conduct research on the topic of "Capoeira in Palestine". I was interested in the question of which cultural constructs are conveyed through capoeira and which aspects of these are particularly interesting for Palestinians.
"The state of embodiment alone does not make capoeira unique; it is much more the different styles of shaping the body and the knowledge of how the world unfolds in capoeira." (See Downey, page 152, 2005)
The event was organized as part of the newly founded capoeira group, Capoeira Freedom Collective Palestine. The participation of those involved showed that there is a great need for exchange about capoeira in Palestine and a desire for better networking between the international groups and the group in Palestine.
